Nationwide Building Society is expanding its support for members.
They're sponsoring our Scamwise guide and developing the support offered through our helpline, including holistic support for older people who've been scammed.
Nationwide Building Society
As a mutual organisation, Nationwide Building Society uses its unique position to make a positive difference to the lives of its members and the communities in which they live.
Nationwide is supporting Independent Age because it wants to make sure its members feel supported, even if they’ve experienced something negative like a scam.
Why do people need support?
Being a scam victim is scary and many people don’t know where to turn for help. Our partnership with Nationwide will have a real impact, supporting those who’ve been scammed and helping people spot the signs of scam to avoid becoming a victim.
How are we helping?
For people over the age of 65, the most common type of scam is an impersonation scam. This is when an organisation or person contacts you out of the blue asking for your help and money. If a Nationwide member over 65 has been scammed, they can be referred to Independent Age for support. Specialised teams will offer person-centred support, which could range from checking entitlements and welfare benefits to signing up for a class to build confidence.
Nationwide has also sponsored our Scamwise guide. The guide is available in Nationwide branches, or you can order the guide here.
